Mission Statement
Brawerman Elementary School of Wilshire Boulevard Temple is a Reform Jewish School with the highest academic standards where students learn Jewish values, personal responsibility, a contemporary understanding of our Torah tradition, Hebrew, and the relationship of the Jewish people to Israel.
We are committed to providing a nurturing community, a state-of-the-art facility, a dynamic curriculum and an integrated approach to Jewish and secular studies, all with unique opportunities to learn about and participate in the arts and sports.
Our goal is to prepare students to participate successfully in an ever-changing American society as responsible citizens shaped by their cherished Jewish identity and traditions.
Curriculum
Our goal is to offer a broad, challenging, developmentally appropriate educational experience for all our students. We seek to inspire active learners who think critically and take intellectual risks. Our program emphasizes the skills and attitudes that allow students to express ideas effectively and solve problems individually and in groups. And we’re committed to creating a Jewish community in which learning is fun and an inherently rewarding lifelong process.
Kindergarten
Based on the premise that classrooms should be both challenging and supportive of the overall development of the child, we recognize and value the diverse backgrounds, talents and needs of children. We create educational environments that accommodate, celebrate and challenge these qualities.
Grades One through Six
Students participate in a rich, diverse sequential curriculum that offers critical instruction in language arts, math, science, social and Judaic studies, Hebrew, computers, art, music, physical education and library — all with an eye to stretching their minds.
Academic programs emphasize the introduction, practice and mastery of skills; exposure to relevant core content; ability to evaluate and use knowledge through critical and independent thinking; and understanding connections between ideas in various studies. Competence and confidence are closely related, and we nurture the acquisition of both these crucial capabilities.
