Interfaith: The Center for Religious Inquiry

Mipnei d'archei shalom - because it leads to paths of peace.  This centuries-old rabbinic principle is at the core of Wilshire Boulevard Temple's mission to engage with various faith traditions.

Wilshire Boulevard Temple’s commitment to interfaith dialogue and mutual understanding have spanned three centuries, from the opening of our second sanctuary in 1896 (presided over by our clergy as well as local Christian ministers), path-breaking Jewish-Catholic and Jewish-Muslim encounters initiated by our beloved rabbi of blessed memory, Rabbi Dr. Alfred Wolf, to the path-breaking interfaith pilgrimages to Israel and various Muslim countries created and led by Rabbi Stephen Julius Stein.

In Fall, 2006, we launched The Center for Religious Inquiry in order to open the doors of Wilshire Boulevard Temple not only to our congregants and the Jewish community, but also to all of Los Angeles’ many faith and cultural traditions, offering a panoply of lectures, cultural events, and activities that create a unique opportunity for sharing, learning, and understanding. Please click on the links below to learn more about our upcoming interfaith Passover Seders and on the CRI brochures to explore what we have offered to the City of Angels.
